Letter from
the gardener

Our garden will
serve as a restful backdrop
for a relaxing lunch, as well
as a festive setting for
a club-night.

The environment and plantings in our garden are an important sign for Mälarpaviljongen and we attach great importance to it constantly developing and reflecting the season's changes. Our garden will serve as a restful background for a relaxing lunch, as well as a festive setting for a club night.

For those interested in gardening, we also hope that a visit can inspire, give tips on plants and compositions, to your own garden, balcony or flower bouquet.

We are always curious and looking for exciting news, as well as more well-known and cultivable plants. With shrubs, perennials, seasonal, potted plants and cut flowers, we try to create environments in constant change. It should be exciting for visitors to return to see what has happened / started to bloom since the last time.

Mälarpaviljongen as a social meeting place is linked to the park and city-plan that formed the park promenade along Norr Mälarstrand during the early 1940s. One of the aspects of the facility was to make the park easily accessible to the city's residents and to create social places for socializing. The amphitheater in Rålambshovsparken is one such example, Mälarpaviljongen's beach café another.

Inside our area, parts of the original facility are still preserved. The café building with its serving bridge to the west and not at least the pavilion in the water, with its bridge and walkway that connects to the park lane.

concerning the vegetation, domestic plant material was used in the construction. It was part of the design language to create a stylized nature, and also to be of access to nursery plants during the war years. The characteristic willow tree at the pavilion probably originates from the original facility, as well as the parasol-like leaves of the butterbur at the water's edge.

The old beach café with its serving-pier, pavilion and café-area on land, the three barges and the street corner up by The Green Queen have given us the opportunity to create several exciting garden rooms. Among the different areas, each with its specific character and color scale, we hope that everyone will be able to find their favorite place!
